When Windows Search gets in the way
local search databases can be interrupted by crashes, antivirus locks, or sudden shutdowns that leave WAL and SHM sidecars behind. Windows Search repair is system-level while Search Sentinel only needs to repair %APPDATA%\SearchSentinel\index.db. a forced reboot or sleep transition can leave the next search returning stale or empty results.
Where tooling usually breaks
Why local-first matters
index.db, config.json, and logs stay under %APPDATA%\SearchSentinel instead of a vendor-hosted workspace. Search queries are not uploaded for AI enhancement, analytics, or ad targeting. You buy the app once and keep the search index as a local workstation asset.
