If this sounds like your week
The classic tools answer the question — eventually, and with effort.
Process Explorer's Find-Handle and utilities like LockHunter can tell you who's holding a file, but each makes you work for it: launch a separate app, run a search, read a list, then switch tools to actually end the offender. For a question you hit constantly, that's a lot of friction.
Where tooling usually breaks
Finding the lock is half the job. Acting on it safely is the other half.
Older tools stop at "here's the handle." You still have to identify whether it's safe to kill and do it somewhere else — where a wrong move can hit a system process.
