Bluebeam Revu 20 End of Life: What Changes on December 31, 2026, and One-Time-Purchase Options for Takeoff and Compare

Published October 17, 2026 Updated October 17, 2026 9 min read

Bluebeam says Revu 20 reached end of support on July 31, 2026 and reaches end of life on December 31, 2026. Perpetual licenses, with serial numbers starting with 1, keep running locally after that date but lose Studio Sessions, Studio Projects and API integrations; open and enterprise licenses starting with 96 or 98 are deactivated on or before that date. Bluebeam’s replacement is Revu 21 on an annual subscription. If what you used Revu 20 for was measuring plan PDFs and comparing revisions, MeasureSet and Drawing Revision Delta are one-time purchases in the Microsoft Store that cover those two jobs on Windows. They do not replace everything Revu does.

This guide sets out what changes, who is affected, and how to decide.

What exactly changes for Revu 20?

From Bluebeam’s support article Revu 20 End of Life (EOL) effective December 31, 2026:

DateWhat Bluebeam says
September 30, 2023Bluebeam stopped selling Revu 20 licenses
July 31, 2026End of support: no technical support and no self-service license management, including seat releases; perpetual licenses can no longer be reassigned to a different machine
December 31, 2026End of life: Revu 20 loses access to Studio Sessions and Studio Projects, including through integrations
License typeSerial starts withAfter December 31, 2026
Perpetual1Keeps running locally, but no Studio Sessions, Studio Projects or API integrations, and no connection to Bluebeam cloud services
Open96Deactivated on or before December 31, 2026 if maintenance has expired or the customer has upgraded to Revu 21
Enterprise98Same as open licenses

So do I need to do anything?

It depends on your license and how you use it:

  • Perpetual license, used locally, no Studio. Revu 20 keeps running. The risks are no support, no seat moves when a PC is replaced, and no further fixes. Some offices will keep it until the PC it lives on retires.
  • Perpetual license, Studio-dependent. If your team reviews in Studio Sessions or shares in Studio Projects, that stops at year end. Plan the move now.
  • Open or enterprise license. Bluebeam says these are deactivated on or before December 31, 2026 in the cases above. You need a replacement.

What does the replacement cost?

Bluebeam’s pricing page lists four plans, each per user and billed annually:

PlanPrice per user per yearRelevant capabilities listed
Basics$260PDF creation, viewing, editing and markups; measure length and area; no perimeter or advanced measurements
Core$330Adds perimeters, counts, angles and volume; overlay and compare drawings; host Studio
Complete$440Adds Dynamic Fill, Quantity Link with Microsoft Excel, batch automation including Batch Slip Sheet and Batch Link
Max$590, marked introductoryAdds AI features including AI drawing comparisons

Prices from Bluebeam’s pricing page, checked on 17 October 2026. Bluebeam offers a refund on requests made within 30 days of purchase.

For many firms, Revu 21 is the right answer. Revu is a full PDF platform: markups, editing, Studio collaboration, CAD plug-ins, batch tools and more. If your workflow depends on those, a subscription is what keeps it running.

When might single-purpose tools make more sense?

Some Revu 20 seats were bought for one or two jobs: an estimator who measures plans, or a project manager who overlays revisions. For those seats, the question is whether a subscription to the whole platform is worth it.

What does MeasureSet cover for estimators?

MeasureSet is a Windows takeoff app for plan PDFs:

  1. Calibrate each sheet from a known dimension, or pick a standard architectural, engineering or metric scale.
  2. Measure with length, area, rectangle, room, count and segment tools, with deductions and snapping to the corners of other marks.
  3. Label marks with a height for wall area, a depth for volume, a roof slope for sloped area, and a waste percent.
  4. Total for each sheet and the whole set.
  5. Export an .xlsx with Marks and Totals sheets, a CSV, or a marked-up PDF with a totals page.
  6. Compare a revision, pairing sheets by number, to see what moved.

Where it falls short of Revu: no arc or circle tool, no symbol search (counts are clicks), one scale per sheet, no live link to Excel like Quantity Link, no markup toolset, no collaboration, and PDF plans only on x64 Windows. If you use Dynamic Fill or Quantity Link every day, stay with Revu.

Redo a recent Revu takeoff in MeasureSet during the 15-day free trial and compare the totals.

What does Drawing Revision Delta cover for comparing sets?

Drawing Revision Delta compares two revisions of a whole drawing set. Sheets pair by the sheet number in each title block, each pair is aligned for shift, rotation and scale, the most changed sheets are ranked first, and every change is clouded. It exports a change report, a clouded set with editable clouds, two CSV files and PNG snapshots. It does not edit or mark up PDFs beyond the clouds. Our page on comparing drawing revisions explains how set comparison works.

How do I decide?

  1. List what each Revu 20 seat is used for. Be specific: measuring, overlay, markups, Studio, batch tools, editing.
  2. Mark the seats that need collaboration or editing. Those seats need Revu 21 or another full PDF platform.
  3. For single-purpose seats, trial the alternatives. Run a recent job through each and compare the output with what Revu gave you.
  4. Check your license type. Open and enterprise license holders have the hardest deadline.
  5. Decide before December 31, 2026, so nobody discovers a deactivated license on the first Monday of January.
