The colors. In Overlay, red marks content that is only in the earlier revision, so it was removed; blue marks content only in the later revision, so it was added; gray is what both share. Content under the title block mask is drawn in light gray and left out of the count. The legend in the side panel repeats this for every sheet.
Why alignment comes first. An overlay of two sheets that are a few points apart shows every line twice. Drawing Revision Delta fits each pair for shift, rotation, and scale, then measures the drawing in a grid of patches and corrects the slight stretch and shear that different plotters and scanners introduce. The side panel shows the result, for example align ok, scale 0.9980, rot 0.001°, shift 5.0, −4.0 pt, with the resolution, the share of change, and the number of text edits.
Overlay, Blink, and Side by side. Overlay puts both revisions in one image. Blink shows one revision, then the other, every half second, which makes a moved tag or a shifted wall jump. Side by side places the earlier and later sheet next to each other, scrolling and zooming together, for reading notes in context. Fit and the plus and minus buttons set the zoom in every mode.
Fade unchanged. Turn it on and the gray drawing lightens, leaving the red and blue edits at full strength, so even a busy sheet reads clearly.
Clouds and the change list. Clouds around changes draws a revision cloud around each group of nearby changes, labeled to match the list: R4, R5, or R16–R19. Each entry shows the pixels removed and added, the position on the sheet in points, and any text edit, such as “2x6” → “2x8”. Next and previous step through them.
Resolution and sensitivity. Compare at 150 DPI, or 200 DPI for fine detail. Sensitivity runs from Fine: report small edits, through Standard sensitivity, to Ignore small differences, which quiets line-weight noise when the two issues came from different PDF drivers.
The whole set, not one pair. Compare all runs the same alignment and overlay on every pair in the set and ranks them by how much changed, so the overlays you open first are the ones with the most to read.
Keeping the overlay. Choose folder and export saves a PNG of each overlay and each change region, named by pair, sheet, and region, alongside the PDF change report, the clouded set, and two CSV files.
